About Melissa

Originally from the border town of McAllen, Texas, Melissa Morgan Glidden is a freelance creative living and working out of Muncie, Indiana.

Melissa holds a B.A. in English from the University of Texas-Pan American and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Library and Information Science at Indiana University.

Melissa's experience ranges from writing (creative and journalistic) to photography, music, and graphic design. She has been published online at eHow.com and in print at Ouch! My Ego.


From 2002 to 2008 she wrote and performed music under the moniker Melissa Carver, later performing with indie band Dignan during a Midwest/Southeastern tour in 2007. She also minored in theater performance, appearing in numerous stage plays and films, as well as writing and reading  poetry throughout her undergraduate studies.


Melissa also has experience and interest in education and working with at-risk youth. She taught 9th grade English in Houston, Texas from 2008 to 2009, and served as classroom teacher for the non-profit organization Jobs for America's Graduates between 2010 and 2011 in Hartford City, Indiana.

Currently, she is pursuing her Master's in Library and Information Science at Indiana University in Indianapolis. Her concentration is School Media; she is personally interested in the evolution and future of information technology, as well as the Internet as a tool for educational enrichment. She intends to pursue a second master's degree in creative writing upon completion of her MLS.


Melissa's personal interests are in the subjects of music and songwriting (specifically indie and indie-folk,) film and screenwriting, theatre and playwriting, acting, photography, business management, design, family, relationships, and information technology, among many others.


Melissa lives with her film-geek husband Austin, their daughter Evelynn, and their dog Stella among hundreds of DVDs, books, and at least a half-dozen musical instruments.
